All works listed under the "Fanfiction" category and "Original fiction" subcategory are works of fiction. Characters in these works are fictitious and do not represent real people.
The way I approach certain topics or viewpoints in a piece of creative fictional writing, be it "negative" and "realistic" or "positive" and "romanticized" (please stop using these words until you know what they mean), is not an indicator of my real-world morals. The purpose these works serve is for entertainment, not as a moral guideline. Don't approach my work thinking it's meant to tell you how to be a good person in real life.
It's all made-up. It's make-believe. It is not my resposibility to self-censor or hold your hand. Click the X button on your browser if you're bothered.
The wishes of source material authors to control derivative works are held in low regard. Highest regard and priority is given to full, unfettered creative freedom.
I do not care if your favorite Youtuber asked really nicely not to ship or write smut of his horror series characters. I do not care if a popufur gets sad when their original species intended for anyone to make a character with gets sexualized. Fandom is for fans, not the creators of the source material. All "friendly reminders" or "PSAs" regarding the "boundaries" of content creators will be deleted and ignored.
All fanworks depicting copyrighted or trademarked characters are transformative in nature and are considered fair use. No works displayed on this website are intended to represent official brands or mislead consumers. All such work is noncommercial in nature.
All character artwork posted to the site will have credit that can be accessed by hovering the mouse over the image.
My fursona, which is found on the homepage, was designed by and purchased from Zipzitty. Additional designer credits will be added as they become relevant. A page dedicated to them may be created at a later date.
I am as "pro-fiction" as "pro-fiction" gets. Not that you need my permission, but in case you were looking for it, you have full permission to create translations, podfic, or other derivative works of anything I upload to the archive. You are not expected to notify me when creating anything. I only ask that you properly credit and link back to the original work. If it's based on something I have posted to AO3 and you are also posting your work to AO3, there is a box to check that indicates your work is based on someone else's pre-existing work. Please check that box.
Of course, while you don't have to tell me you've made something, it would be nice if you did, because I would like to spotlight it on the website. (:
Please do not repost my work to other websites, regardless of whether I have an account there or not. If you would like to see a particular work crossposted to another site, please discuss it with me so I can take care of it. If you're only looking to share my work with others, please just provide a link to the work. Thank you!
Species that are "open with regulations" refers to a small number of original species within the furry fandom, such as "Dutch Angel Dragons" or "Protogens". The terminology refers to the fact that these species are considered "open" for everyone to create, but there are some guidelines that must be met, or restrictions on what kinds of works can be created about these characters.
I do not honor demands to control what sorts of characters I can create, nor the manner of works they can be depicted in.
Examples include, but are not limited to: NSFW/R34/R18+ content of "Dutch Angel Dragons" being "forbidden", Protogens only being "allowed" to be anthro (no feral, or four-legged, variants), or restrictions on superpowers that may not be immediately visible, such as magic or shapeshifting.
I also do not honor attempts to dictate what my characters are or aren't. You, as the species owner, are free to not consider it canon on your side of things. However, if I call my character a Dutch Angel Dragon, then it is a Dutch Angel Dragon. If I call it a Protogen, then it is a Protogen. End of discussion. You do not get to have a say in the specifics of my character that I created. You may have created the species, but the individual character is mine to control as I see fit. If I write a story about this character and refer to them as a Dutch Angel Dragon in the story, I'm not going to change it just to make you feel better. It's a Dutchie. Because I said so. Cry into your pillow about it.
By surrendering ownership of a character design to me in any way (as part of a sale, contest prize, or by any other means), you acknowledge that you relinquish all ownership and rights of that character, and that you no longer reserve the right to dictate noncommercial usage of the design in any way, shape, or form. This includes the manner of written or visual work the character is depicted in.
Additionally, I do not consent to the "revoking" (theft) of my characters for any reason, up to and including being banned from the species community or being inactive on the platform on which the community is hosted. All bans from these communities will be respected; attempts to "confiscate" (steal) designs from my ownership after they have already been transferred in full to my name will not be honored, and I will not comply with attempts to restrict my usage of these characters or my claim over their ownership. The characters will continue to be used under my name and ownership. Misattribution of characters under my ownership will be dealt with to the fullest extent possible.
These terms apply regardless of whether or not they have been read and explicitly agreed to.
? What is this disclaimer, and why is it here ?
This disclaimer serves to counteract equally unbinding attempts to claim that by participating in a closed species community, one automatically agrees to all terms and conditions as they are written on the homepage of that community, including possible "revocation clauses". Such clauses have no legal merit. This disclaimer serves to send the message of, "See? I can write a TOS you involuntarily agree to as well! If you can do it, then mine are just as good!"
It is also to serve as a message that I am aware of my legal rights to these characters. I am aware that browsewrap terms set by species communities are not binding and can be ignored, and that they have no legal right to repossess any characters I receive from them; it is regarded as theft and misattribution, and attempts to re-sell these characters is regarded as scamming and, again, theft.
If you are a closed species owner and have adopted out a design to me under any circumstance, it is to be assumed that I have not read your terms and conditions unless specifically prompted to do so and sign a written (electronic) agreement stating as such. If I have made no such written agreement, I have legally not read your terms and am not responsible for adhering to your revocation clause in the case of being banned from the community.
An "offbrand" refers to a species (or individual of that species) that is intended to look similar to an actual closed species, but uses a different name. An example of this would be "DDDogs", which are an offbrand species of "CCCats". Offbrands are often created with the intention of providing a similar set of traits to a closed species, but for a fraction of the price or even free. However, this often results in the creator of the "original" species claiming that the offbrands "basically are (insert species here)", and inciting a harassment campaign against the creator of the offbrand.
I am in support of offbrands. Some works in this archive may feature characters who are of a species that is an "offbrand" of a more popular closed species.
Similar to the above regarding dictation of what my characters are, I will not honor demands to "admit" that a character I own or am using is "just a (insert species here)". If I say my character is a Long-Armed Fox, then it is a Long-Armed Fox. It is not a "Scarfox", no matter how adamantly you claim it to be so.
"FanCS" is a rare and obscure term. It is used to refer to a character that directly uses a "closed" species concept and refers to it by that name, but is not "official" or "canon". For example, someone might create a Primagen without purchasing one (or the "right" to create one, as determined by the community leaders) through the official community, yet will still use the basic "blueprint" of the species anatomy and call it a Primagen. In this case, they have created an "unofficial" Primagen; it is a "FanCS".
It is not legally possible to "close" a species and prevent others from creating one.
Just as with offbrands, I am in support of people creating FanCS. I also have created some myself.
Some works on this archive may contain FanCS, such as "unofficial" Sushi Dogs, Primagens, Kalons, Grems, and others. These characters are not depicted with the intent of tricking the audience into believing they are "official". Additionally, just as with the above regarding "open but regulated" species: If I say that my character is a Sushi Dog, then within the context of that story, it is. If I say that my character is a Grem, then within the context of that story, it is. As the author of the written work and the creator of that specific character (albeit not the species), I reserve full creative right to dictate what species my character is or is not. All such works are transformative by nature and are considered "fair use".
